Blame the Dealer

Being a Motorcycle Dealer is a Tough Job
A recent call from an unhappy motorcyclist reminds me once again how tough it can be for motorcycle dealers.

I happen to be friendly with one of the top dealers in the country.

A recent caller complained that his new motorcycle somehow caused him to go through a stop sign and crash.  I kept asking questions as the story shifted.  Are you saying the brakes failed?  So, you're saying that the transmission locked up?  It stuck in gear?

Bottom line -- rider error.  Great hooligan motorcycle.  Rider crash.  No real story hear.

The caller insisted that the crash was the dealer's fault.  What is the dealer to do?  How far do you go to satisfy every customer?  Who will bear this cost?

We are a demanding group as a whole, hard on the equipment, motorcycles are high upkeep to begin with.  Not an easy customer base, especially when you simply don't make that much money selling a motorcycle.

Hope we can all think a little bit about how important our dealers are, before trying to push the envelope by blaming them for ever problem we encounter.
