Motorcycle Accidents and Car Accidents are Not the Same

Differences in knowledge needed is huge
At the risk of blowing my own horn, a few recent experiences have provided shocking examples of how different motorcycle accidents are from car accidents.

It is pretty rare to find a car accident where the driver is tossed from the car.  It happens, but only a very, very small percentage of the time, in this age of seatbelts.

On the other hand, more often than not, any serious motorcycle accident throws the rider from the bike.

Motorcycle riders are responsible for using the front and rear brakes independently (even with linked brakes or ABS systems that balance the use of brakes, the rider usually provides some input).

Car, truck, and SUV drivers have no input into the ratio of front to rear braking.

Motorcycles react to the rider leaning the bike, and shifting weight.  Cars, trucks, and SUVs, not.

So it continues to amaze me how few riders recognize the need for motorcycle lawyers in our world.

I know this sounds like an unmitigated plug, but it really is just something I had to get off my chest.  After all the years of handling motorcycle accidents, I am still learning.  It just seems wrong for an attorney to handle serious injuries for a motorcyclist.  Head injuries, spinal cord injuries, even death, and a lawyer who has never even ridden a motorcycle.  Not a good combilnation, in my view.
