| January 17, 2007 | | Factory Recovers from Fire | Like many of us, I have a warm spot in my heart for both Triumph and Ducati, although I don't actually own one of either.
There is something about the red Italian bikes that always gets the heart pumping, probably associated with watching them race over the years, but equally likely something having to do with the way they look.
Triumph, on the other hand, always brings to mind a hooligan spirit going back to the 60's.
I have a love/hate relationship with Triumph's focus on new/old bikes, although they have clearly done a great job of updating the old stuff. Anyone who missed these the first time can have pretty much the same experience, but with better power, improved handling, and no oil leaks.
The motorcycle community can't stop drooling over the new 675, and old guys like me can't help but be impressed by the small changes being made to the new version of the Sprint.
I had to buy a new Triumph T-Shirt to get me through the "winter" in California, so I definitely have the fever.
Anyway, I was pleased, but not surprised, to find that Triumph managed to sell 18% more bikes last year than the year before. This is quite an accomplishment, given the factory disaster.
Way to go, Brits.
