| May 01, 2008 | | Service Department is Awesome | When I bought my Victory Vision from Arlen Ness, I really didn't give much thought to the service part of it.
From what I read, the bikes are pretty reliable, 350 dealers, and so forth. I think of the Ness operation as being customizers, totally ignoring the fact that they are a happening dealership as well.
Boy, did I miss it. So far, they replaced my front wheel for free, because my bike came with an oversized wheel, and I wanted the stock size. Joe, the service manager, came in specially on a Saturday to change the wheel and to mount a tour pack because: 1) It was hard for me to get in with the bike, and 2) I wanted to ride with my wife on Sunday, and wanted the tour pack. Two pretty marginal reasons, actually, particularly since they also offered to pick the bike up with a truck and return it when it was done.
Next, they told me the new wheel was scratched. No problem, new wheel on the way. No cost.
When I came in for the 500 mile service, I learned that they have a serviceman who is there solely for Vision customers. Wow, does he know what is happening with that motorcycle. Sean spent quite a bit of time with me, telling me the Arlen Ness philosophy of dealing with customers, and noting that he expects everyone to know the customer's name. In addition to the service, they put cargo nets in the bags, and installed an organizer in the tour pack. Oh, yeah, and when I mentioned that one of the panels didn't seem to fit perfectly, he pulled a new one out, and said, simply, "i'll replace it".
Having had my BMW serviced at Cal Moto for years, I am used to a very high level of service, believe me. So I think I know what I am talking about when I say that they are very serious about being a Victory Vision dealer out in Dublin.
