New Experience: Opposing Attorney Rides Bikes

Deposition Almost Like A Rally
Usually, my job involves educating an insurance defense attorney, who doesn't understand the difference between reconstructing a motorcycle accident, and reconstructing a car accident.

I've had the other side's lawyers ask my clients questions, like "So, does a motorcycle have separate controls for the front and rear brakes", and not really know the answer.  The more subtle parts of motorcycle operation, like counter steering, are completely lost on them.

I am so used to having this huge advantage, that it was a real surprise a few weeks ago, to have a defense attorney who is a lifelong rider, and currently wants to trade his 999 Ducati for a new 1098.

It was really a different situation, because it was obvious that, as a rider, the defense attorney understood how the driver of a car simply cut my client's motorcycle off, causing a serious accident.

Having been in accidents himself, I have little doubt that he will empathize with the recovery period, and the inability to ride a motorcycle because of injuries.

Actually, it was pretty cool, and I wouldn't mind having it happen again.

    Ride on, counsellor!
