A Plug for CalMoto

Kari Prager runs a great shop
I had a brief discussion with Kari Prager, owner of Calmoto BMW Triumph in Mountain View.

As usual, I was memorizing the stock of accessories and checking out the new bikes, while waiting for some minor work on my RT.

How many shops are there that will stick your bike in on a Saturday morning, provide donuts and coffee, and a great place to hang out while the work is done?  Not enough, in my humble opinion.

No shop is perfect, but the few times there has been an issue, the response by CalMoto has been unreal.  On one occasion, a mechanic bought me a Triumph shirt, because he forgot to call me about the status of my bike.

I've talked with many motorcycle shop owners over the years, and I can tell you categorically that running a motorcycle dealership is no easy task.  They simply don't have the markup that a car dealership has, the seasons are short, even in California, and the use a motorcycle gets makes service much different than automotive servicing.  Add in the constant change in accessories, problems associated with stocking riding gear, and the average customer age, and it is a difficult deal, indeed.

    Hat's off.
