| June 18, 2007 | | Oldest Harley Dealer Moves to New Location | A good way to spend time on things motorcycle has always been to make a pilgrimage to the oldest Harley Davidson dealer in the country. Many riders wait for the annual t-shirt commemorating the anniversary of yet another year.
So I thought it would be fun to check out the newly relocated facility in South San Francisco, near the airport.
The bad news is, unless you know the dealership is there, it is totally unlikely you will run across it. The good news is, they spent a bunch of money making the dealership into a motorcycle museum.
Really interesting, is that you take an elevator up to the showroom.
Really fun, is a wall display showing the different configurations of the v-twin as used by Harley over the years. In one place, you can see a knucklehead, shovelhead, panhead, etc., and look back and forth at the differences.
Upstairs, the shiny wood floors are reminiscent of a fern bar, and the motorcycles are lined up in rows, with the models grouped together to make shopping easy.
Walk to one of the aisles, and see historic bikes. Cross to another huge room, and find an enormous selection of clothing and other logo stuff.
I am a little concerned about the location, and you always have to worry about a trusted company that makes a huge layout on their facility. That said, the store remains a great destination if you are interested in riding to something motorcycle.
